Weighted Sit-Ups exercise
Weighted sit-ups are a progression of the traditional sit-up where resistance is added using a dumbbell, plate, or medicine ball. This variation increases the demand on the rectus abdominis, helping build strength and muscle definition in the core. By adding external weight, the exercise becomes more challenging and can improve overall stability, posture, and athletic performance.

How to perform Weighted Sit-Ups
- Lie flat on your back on a mat with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
- Hold a weight plate, dumbbell, or medicine ball against your chest or extended overhead.
- Engage your core and exhale as you lift your torso off the ground toward your knees.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement while keeping the weight secure.
- Inhale as you slowly lower your torso back to the starting position with control.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, maintaining proper form throughout.
Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
