How to perform Treadmill Walk

  1. Step onto the treadmill and attach the safety clip to your clothing if available.
  2. Start the treadmill at a slow pace (around 2.0–3.0 mph) to warm up for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Gradually increase the speed to a brisk walking pace that raises your heart rate while allowing you to maintain a conversation.
  4. Keep your posture upright, shoulders relaxed, and look forward rather than down.
  5. Swing your arms naturally at your sides or lightly hold the handrails for balance if needed.
  6. If desired, increase the incline to simulate outdoor hill walking for added challenge.
  7. Walk for 15–45 minutes depending on your fitness goals, then slow the speed for a 3–5 minute cooldown.

Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
