Walking Lunge exercise

The walking lunge is a dynamic variation of the standard lunge that challenges balance, coordination, and lower-body strength. It targets the quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves while also engaging the core. This functional movement mimics everyday actions like walking, climbing, and transitioning between positions, making it ideal for athletic development and mobility.

How to perform Walking Lunge

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and hands at your sides or on your hips.
  2. Take a step forward with your right leg and lower into a lunge, bending both knees to about 90 degrees.
  3. Push off your back foot and bring it forward to step into the next lunge with your left leg.
  4. Keep your torso upright, core engaged, and front knee aligned with your ankle.
  5. Continue alternating legs, moving forward with each step.
  6. Avoid letting your front knee pass your toes and control your descent each time.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of steps or distance.

Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
