Barbell Overhead Press (Standing) exercise
A compound upper-body movement that targets the shoulders, triceps, and upper chest. Performed standing, it also engages the core and stabilizers for balance and power, making it a staple in strength training programs.

How to perform Barbell Overhead Press (Standing)
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and grip the barbell just outside shoulder-width.
- Clean the barbell to your shoulders or un-rack it from a squat rack at chest level.
- Brace your core, squeeze your glutes, and press the barbell overhead in a straight line.
- At the top, lock out your elbows with the barbell directly over your head and slightly behind your ears.
- Lower the barbell back to your shoulders with control.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps, keeping your torso upright and stable.
Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
