Dumbbell Shoulder Press exercise

The dumbbell shoulder press is a compound upper-body exercise that targets the deltoid muscles while also engaging the triceps and upper chest. It allows for a more natural range of motion than the barbell version and helps correct muscular imbalances between sides.

How to perform Dumbbell Shoulder Press

  1. Sit on a bench with back support and hold a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height.
  2. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your core engaged.
  3. Press both dumbbells upward until your arms are fully extended overhead.
  4. Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height.
  5. Maintain a neutral spine and avoid arching your back.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of reps.

Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
