Shoulder Press Machine exercise

The shoulder press machine strengthens the deltoids, triceps, and upper chest while providing stability and support through a guided range of motion. It’s an effective exercise for building shoulder strength and improving overhead pressing mechanics.

How to perform Shoulder Press Machine

  1. Adjust the seat height so that the machine handles are roughly at shoulder level when seated.
  2. Sit with your back flat against the pad and feet planted firmly on the floor.
  3. Grasp the handles with an overhand grip, elbows bent at about 90 degrees and slightly in front of your shoulders.
  4. Engage your core and press the handles upward until your arms are fully extended but not locked out.
  5. Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower the handles back down to the starting position.
  6. Avoid arching your back or using momentum; focus on controlled movement and smooth breathing.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, keeping consistent tension on the shoulders.

Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
