Handstand Push-Up (against a wall) exercise
The handstand push-up against a wall is an advanced bodyweight exercise that builds powerful shoulders, triceps, and upper chest strength. Using a wall for support allows you to safely practice vertical pressing while improving balance and core control. It’s a key progression toward freestanding handstand work and elite-level bodyweight strength.

How to perform Handstand Push-Up (against a wall)
- Face away from a wall and get into a handstand position by kicking your legs up against the wall.
- Place your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart on the floor, about 6 inches from the wall.
- Keep your body straight with your feet resting against the wall for balance.
- Bend your elbows to slowly lower your head toward the ground, keeping your elbows tucked slightly in.
- Lower until the top of your head lightly touches the floor or a pad.
- Push through your hands to straighten your arms and return to the starting handstand position.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps while maintaining tight core and proper alignment.
Use controlled movement and an appropriate variation for your current ability. Stop if an exercise causes sharp pain, and seek qualified guidance when needed.
